1pt fire damage for 100s is cheaper than 100pt fire damage for 1s after all. TES Wizards are all about the subtle power. I never got that feeling in a TES game, where instead it seemed that magic worked great as a support.ĭ&D Wizards are all about the flashy spells in those earlier editions.

In Baldur's Gate 2, high level Wizards felt like gods. In any case, something I disliked about both TES games was the magic system. I feel no real desire to retun to Cyrodiil though. My first son was born more or less when I finished with the Shivering Isles, so that was it. And, actually, I'd be better off not doing any Daedric quests until really late game, at which point everyone and their dog would be assaulting me with full glass armour for not sparing 10 gold pieces.

At some point I realised exploring was pointless. What truly broke Oblivion for me was the levelling system. I've only done a single run (all+DLC, except thieves & DB due to roleplaying constraints). The magic system had some nice ideas though. The all-talked dialogue was clearly inferior to Morrowind, probably due to media restrictions (and time considerations!). Never felt as magical as Morrowind, or as immersive. Oblivion was really nice, but didn't quite hit the same highs. My dodgy hlaalu character for the third run was going fine. Second one was fun too, but there was too much metagaming (atronach breton fighting with non-favorite spears just to max out endurance). My first playthrough of Morrowind was truly enjoyable. Doubt I can run Skyrim on my Mac, so will likely get it for Switch next time it's on offer. I've only really played Morrowind & Oblivion.
